Protectors of truth and justice, or just protectors of their own personal interests? The Agents are a quasi-police force of superhumans mandated by Dos Santos to safeguard his business assets, including the customers who live in this city. And although I've seen firsthand that the team is capable of at least ersatz teamwork when dealing with outside invaders, in times of peace they tend to use their legal and physical immunity to its fullest advantage. Blatantly, and without guilt. They say absolute power corrupts absolutely, and the Agents have double that amount. You see where I'm going with this?
Seeing the Agents in action, you feel like Frank Serpico watching his fellow police officers arguing over how to divide their bribe money. If the Agents focused as much of their energy into protecting the public as they do protecting their own resources, we'd have world peace within the month. These Übermensch morons have carved this city up into little territories for themselves, lording over them like kings would in feudal Europe. The people are scared shitless, and thus highly volatile. It doesn't take a genius like Dos Santos to tell that this corporate police state is a ticking time bomb waiting to go off. When it does, these venerated sociopaths will likely move their affairs to other parts of the world, probably away from their current teammates so they won't face any competition when they try to establish new kingdoms for themselves. Hmm... Pondering the issue, perhaps I should give credit to Dos Santos for keeping these demigod brutes contained in the boundaries of this little river valley microcosm he's created. The inner machinations of our illustrious leader are a secret even to me. I wouldn't put it past the man if it was his goal all along to protect the world as a whole by keeping the Agents locked up here in Delta, however short term that plan may be.
I'll get more down on this subject in due time.
